Bekah Kanable

MS CCC-SLP

Bekah is a speech-language pathologist and third generation Star Lake Wilderness Camp “Lifer”, who has camped there ever since she can remember. She earned her bachelors and masters degrees at St. Cloud State University and works for  Becker Public Schools in Becker, MN. She is also the secretary of the Star Lake Board of Directors. Now she is excited to combine both her passions for Star Lake camping and stuttering through Star Lake Out Loud! Bekah wants to walk alongside campers while providing tools and support through their journey as kids who stutter. She hopes this camp is a chance for all to grow and connect in an awesome environment filled with adventures around every corner! When Bekah is not camping, she’s spending time with her family, enjoying a cup of iced coffee or soaking up life on the lake.

Kenzie Braden 

MA CCC-SLP

Kenzie is a speech-language pathologist in the early learning department at Robbinsdale Area Schools. She earned her undergraduate and masters degrees in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Kenzie specifically works with families and their preschool age children who stutter. She is Lidcombe Program Trained for children younger than 6 years old. 

Kenzie enjoys being outside and active. Some of her favorite outdoor activities include kayaking, hiking, and biking. She is also a life long dancer and now coaches a high school dance team. Kenzie grew up going to summer camp through her church and she cannot wait to take part in planning a memorable summer camp for your child. Kenzie hopes that Star Lake Out Loud is a fun and positive experience for every camper!


Sheila is a speech-language pathologist and the stuttering liaison at Minneapolis Public Schools. She has a private practice, The Talking Place, specializing in working with people who stutter and their families. Sheila enjoys incorporating her skills as a Certified Fearless Living Coach into her speech and language therapy. She loves to help her clients and students of all ages grow in understanding of stuttering, develop more confident communication, and become their own best advocate.

Sheila enjoys living in Minnesota and is so excited to be a part of such a unique camp opportunity. Minnesota is a beautiful setting for people who stutter to develop friendships, gain confidence, and experience the joy of communication. When it’s time to relax, Sheila enjoys listening to stories of all kinds, picture books, songs, podcasts, musicals ... she is always listening  to something. She also loves to make pizzas, try new foods, and loves to hike and snowshoe. She has a great time hanging out with her grandchildren and has two comedic dogs that keep her and her husband, Matt, well entertained.

Jeffrey J Glessing

MA CCC-SLP

Jeff is a speech-language pathologist with OWL Therapy Services in Rochester, Minnesota.  He is a person who stutters and has a long history of working towards practical solutions with those who stutter.  Experiences include serving as the fluency consultant for the Rochester Public Schools, authoring fictional works related to stuttering, teaching graduate level fluency courses and participating and presenting both locally and nationally with the National Stuttering Association.  His most recent venture is a non-profit to raise awareness and resources for those who stutter in the state of Minnesota, Parents and Advocates for Those wHo Stutters or PATHS.

Away from the realm of stuttering, he enjoys golf, the outdoors and cooking.  Working with Star Lake Out Loud is an exciting opportunity to understand and relate to those who stutter in a new manner.  He is looking forward to making new connections and offering assistance to the campers and their families. 

Tim is a speech language pathologist with Hopkins Public Schools and a person who stutters. Tim also leads the National Stuttering Association's Twin Cities adult chapter. Tim received his Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his Master's degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

Tim loves working with people who stutter of all ages, helping them grow with stuttering. He wishes for all people who stutter to hear the power and beauty of their voices. A stuttering voice is a voice worth hearing! When Tim is not at Star Lake, he enjoys baking, music, and being silly with his family.

Tim McCarren       MS CCC-SLP

Sheridan Rasmussen          MA CCC-SLP

Sheridan is a speech-language pathologist who works at an elementary school in Robbinsdale Area School District. She earned her undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Oklahoma, Health Science Center and her masters in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. Sheridan enjoys working with elementary students with language, articulation, and fluency disorders. 

Sheridan enjoys being outside and taking advantage of the Minnesota weather. In the summer you can find her hiking, camping, biking, and running. She loves to cross country ski in the winters. Sheridan is looking forward to enjoying the outdoors and learning more about stuttering while building community. 


Connor is a speech-language pathologist who works with middle and elementary school students in the Robbinsdale Area School District. He earned his masters degree from St. Cloud State University. Connor enjoys fostering student's self-advocacy skills, awareness, and communication skills. 

Connor has spent many summer nights camping with friends and family. He is looking forward towards sharing this love of the outdoors with campers at Star Lake Out Loud! When he's not camping, Connor also enjoys biking, running, birding, and being on the water.
